BE OVERLY PREPARED

Clearly understand your pentameters
Ask yourself this question: 
How much time do you have?
Where is it taking place?
Why are you doing it?
Who are you presenting to?
Ask about the space you will be presenting at.
Make sure to clarify the and know these answers ahead of time.

3 types of presentation
Small informal Presentation
Group presentation with sketches and feedback
Approval Phase Presentation
 This is for decision and mock-ups to be presented and approved. A conference room is great for this presentation.

Formal Presentation
This one is less commutative and highly constructed.

Know what the value you.

Know who you are presenting to and use the key words to make such you speak there language.
Listen carefully to key words. Make sure it clear, creditable and persuasive.

Use mocks in there native habitat to get the client the full experience. When using mock-ups make sure to add shadows to show scale.

If someone ask for your presentation be careful that the type aren't missing. Printing out your work is helpful and allows you to write the notes from other. If  you show 3 design it's good to show each one and have a bring them back for follow up meetings. Don't show your presentation ahead of time if you have to do it 5 minutes before.

Reconfirm how much time you have.  Present the backup info to show how much context you know.
Leave time fro questions at the end and make sure to practice.

ALWAYS have a plan B

Practice out loud with a timer. Don't read from a script.
Know you material cold
Arrive 45 minutes early and have access to the room, set up and test audio, set up stands if you need it or connect the audio, Stand in-front of the window and make sure no one is behind you.

Opening can needs to make an emotional connection to the design and capture your audience. Make the audience feel what you feel. Take your audience on a creative journey through your design. Tell them who inspired you. Know why your solution is important and what the take away was.

Stick to 3 points. Don't say to much or to little. Don't lose the sequence. Be as objective as possible and work with the clients goals.

Show confidence, believe that your design is the best design.
Practice but don't memorize.

Don't use these words: kind of, sort of, like, you know and huh (added that in)

Show data about the challenge, When using graphs show what you want and then go to a blank slide. Site your source and make it big.
The more you know about the company the better, show your competitor and show why your design is better. Include a few data point that will show you know your stuff.

Don't do bullets points no more, sketch your presentation. Show beautiful images and enhance the visuals. Don't use text heavy slides.Choose font style wisely. Use 20 points size font or larger.
Don't go crazy with the transition. Embed videos and don't use the Internet.

Don't struggle with technical and don't steal images(use pexels.com)
2D tells but 3D sells. Have people touch and feel mock-ups, once they have your mock ups tell them what they should notice since they have stop listening to the presentation.

Stand in profile if you write on the white board.
If you present from a computer:
Clean the screen
Turn off pop ups
Plug in the laptop and turn the sleep mode to never
Don't except WiFi access
Hide all files

Print out your notes as a backup and make sure you have a memory card to put on another computer, make sure to know if you will use another computer or yours.
Test Lighting ahead of time.

Watch your body language. Posture, eye contact and grooming. Show grace and professionalism.  Don't distract and watch what you wear (all genders). Know what message your conveying, make eye contact with one person at a time. Don't scan the audience. Be open and parallel to everyone and avoid shaking your hands.

For the Ending (conclusions)
Restate the problem and why your solution solved it and why it is important. Ask if they have any questions. If the client ask which one you like, be as objective as possible.
Don't design at the table with an over the shoulder client.Only show your strongest design, never show anything you don't want. Be prepared for some clients to challenge you, be open and comforting to the client.
